CHICHÉN ITZÁ, VALLADOLID Y CENOTES PALOMITAS Y AGUADULCE

Hi guys! How's the week? I hope it's wonderful.
Today I show you one of the post that takes much time to prepare but which I most gladly do because they are my favorites.
It has been several months since my vacation in Riviera Maya but I still have "material" to share. This was our last excursion of the three that we did (you can see the other posts here and here) and certainly it's the most essential because you can't leave Mexico without visiting the pyramid of Kukulcan or better known as Chichen Itza. It is one of the 7 wonders of the world and I understand perfectly why :)
But I'm going to tell you the whole tour in detail because we visited more places.

¡Hola chicos!

1. CHICHÉN ITZÁ
As I said you, we hired the excursions before the trip by "whatsapp" talking with David from Experiencias Riviera Maya. We chose the package number 3 (here) but you can also hire the individual tour (here).
The van came to pick us up very early, something before 6 in the morning and on the way we stopped at several resorts to pick up more people going on the tour (I think we were 4 couples).
We arrived just when they opened and we were able to enjoy this wonderful pyramid practically alone, and that is a luxury. It's even more spectacular than I imagined. Besides, it was not too hot. There you can find many more buildings and the "Cenote Sagrado", used by the ancient Mayas to make sacrifices to animals and humans, and to make offerings of ceramics and jewels as well.
The guide gave us free time to visit the area again or to do some shopping. If you want to buy souvenirs I recommend you do it here because it's where cheaper are and also you can haggle. We took advantage and bought Mexican skulls, Mayan calendars and some other handicraft product as gifts.

Además todavía no hacía demasiado calor.

2. VALLADOLID
After the `compulsory stop´ we went to visit Valladolid, a yucatecan city with a lot of charm and full of color. A pity that just stopped a storm and everything was wet. Anyway we loved the little we could see, because the visit was brief. The white benches catched my attention that were in the square, according to our guide, for lovers, they only allowed the hand contact, very religious and cute.

3. CENOTE PALOMITAS
There isn't anything better to combat the Mexican heat than the cenotes. We visited two that were discovered a short time ago and that is why they aren't so well known. It was an excellent choice because we were the only ones there and that is something that I love.
The `Cenote Palomitas´ has a depth of 50 meters and is accessed by a stone staircase. It is inside a cavern and has a hole in the ceiling through which the natural light passes (despite having lights). Although the water is crystal clear, you feel that it's black because you can't see anything. I swam to the beam of natural light and the appearance of the water changed completely. The light went through and was goreous. On photos it's difficult to be appreciated but on video you can see it.

4. CENOTE AGUADULCE
While we were going to the second cenote we were surprised for a tropical storm in the middle of the jungle. It was stunning! Imagine having to go down a spiral staircase that is hanging and moving as when you move until you reach a wooden platform floating on the water. All surrounded by lightning and while a great storm bathes you. It was great, I love storms and to be able to see one of this type, in the middle of a dream landscape and with the GoPro in hand was amazing. Wait to see the video :)
This cenote is similar to the previous one but with more holes in the ceiling through which passes more light, but this wasn't our case... With the clear sky it has to be marvelous.
After a refreshing bath, we went to have lunch at a typical Yucatecan restaurant in the middle of nature. Everything was delicious, and I think the food is still tasting better with landscapes like these. With the full stomach, we went back to our hotel. We arrived about 6 or 7 in the afternoon and almost without enter on our room we went to the pool. Long live to the `Caribbean´ life!
