LE MORNE BRABANT

Hello family! How are you? I guess you are really looking forward to the weekend arrive. It's almost here!
Today I want to show you a different post to tell you about our first excursion in Mauritius.
We knew to rent a car to move around the island with total freedom (in another post I'll tell you how to drive there... It's a real madness!).
Well, the fact is that to have a first contact driving through the island we decided to make a short trip to the mountain Le Morne Brabant that was very close to our hotel. If you are planning to go there I recommend you to do it in the morning because at 18 o'clock in the afternoon it is dark and the access is only allowed until 16 or 17 o'clock. It is also highly recommended to bring appropriate clothes and shoes (I could learn the lesson) because without making stops until you reach the top there are more than two hours (more the time to return).
As a curious fact, you should know that it is famous because during the nineteenth century many slaves took refuge there to not be captured. But after the abolition of slavery, when police were tried to communicate that they were already free people they jumped into the void because they did not understand what they were saying.
Sincerely it is worth visiting this wonder of nature since it is the perfect point to admire the different color shades of the water as well as to appreciate the coral reef that surrounds the island.
For a little less than an hour you reach a first viewpoint and the path is quite good. But after walking a bit more there is a refuge where you can read "Continue the path under your responsibility". There you have to write your name and the time of arrival, in case after a reasonable time you do not go back they will look for you. I felt calmer (see the irony)! From that point the way begins to be complicated, and a lot. Every time there were more inclined slopes to the point of almost having to climb on a wall of rocks (you can see the photos). There are some pretty complicated stretches in which it is better to hold on with all your strength and not look down. The fact is that there were rings where I guess that before there would be ropes to help you climb but they were not there...
If climbing was difficult, going down wasn't less, but test passed. On the way back, when we were passing through the shelter, we had to look up our names and write the arrive time. An adventure of height (never better said)!
I hope that you like the post as much as I enjoyed writing it. I love telling you my adventures and make posts a little more personal.

¡Hola familia!
